Emotional Intelligence & Applying EQ At Work

What is Emotional Intelligence (EQ)?

Emotional Intelligence (abbreviated as EQ) is defined as "the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically."

What is Intelligence Quotient (IQ)?

Intelligence Quotient (abbreviated as IQ) is defined as "a number representing a person's reasoning ability (measured using problem-solving tests) as compared to the statistical norm or average for their age, taken as 100."

As you can see, Emotional Intelligence is a capacity (or in simpler terms 'a skill') while as Intelligence Quotient is a number (a specified number) for an individual. Skills can always be developed, while numbers are constant. A person can never learn beyond his intellectual capacity (otherwise, we may all be Albert Einstein or Stephen Hawkins) but we can always develop our Emotional inter-personal skills.

So, the correct question is "How to develop this capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically."

Here at DNA Of Excellence Group, we understand the different capacities of different people, and we customize our Emotional Intelligence (EQ) training program as per the client needs, and after assessing each individual of a group, using our various assessments.

Each individual has his/her own level of EQ skills, which we at DNA develop through various individual and group activities, role plays and various other training techniques.
